Sasha Louis Leger is an acclaimed Canadian composer and sound designer who elegantly blends his musical roots in folk and rock with accomplished classical training. His music explores the meeting point of structure and vulnerability, mirroring the delicate essence of being. The young composer’s sonic identity is said to align seamlessly with the growing neoclassical movement.

Sasha’s fascination with music began at the age of four years old, eyes closed and unconsciously head bobbing to Sabotage by the Beastie Boys (really, there is video proof). Fast forward to more recent times, his enjoyment of music has translated to an undergraduate degree in classical music composition from the University of Moncton and a Master’s degree in Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games from the prestigious Berklee College of Music.

He furthered his knowledge in composition by attending workshops like the Film Scoring Academy of Europe summer program in Bulgaria, SOCAN’s scoring retreat in Banff and the Vancouver International Film Festival Annual Amp cohort, studying alongside industry giants like Michael Abels.

Since, his works have been recorded by various professional ensembles and orchestras at notable studios around the world, such as AIR Studios in London and Studio 22 in Budapest. He has had success with major television networks (Unis TV, Télé-Québec, CBC, CTV, etc.) and has worked with established brands like Sherwood Hockey, MS Society of Canada, Vogue Optical, IWK, amongst others. In 2023, he has been recognized by SOCAN with an Emerging Screen Composer Award and in 2025 his work on the documentary series Bientôt dans nos hopitaux earned him a Prix Gémeaux nomination for best original music in the documentary category.

Sasha is a current member of the Screen Composer Guild of Canada and has sat on the Canadian League of Composers national board in 2024-2025. He is also a proud faculty member at the University of Moncton where he teaches music technology and ear training.
